You've heard of it. You've heard all the hubbub. So what is this all about?
Net Neutrality is the internet as we know it. We have unilateral access to everything. We have unlimite access to every webpage out there. ISP's have been trying to comercialize the internet.
First time around, major ISP's were trying to make it so that they could regulate the speed of the internet. Only certain sites who paid the ISP money, would get unlimited bandwidth. And for all those other ones, they'd limit said bandwidth to almost nothing. This in effect would make most small websites like ours, and tons of other forums and such like that, have very little traffic, or none at all.
They lost that battle. And boy are they mad about it.
But now, the major ISP's have gotten together, and made an agreement, under a NDA. Non-Disclosure-Agreement. This agreement was made, to make the internet just like cable tv or satelite tv. You would have to pay a certain amount of money to be able to view the internet. And the more you pay, the more you're allowed to view. But these sites would only be the ones who have paid the ISP's to have their websites displayed on their network.
The fight against this has raged on. And it's getting to a point, where there is no hope in sight. But now, we know about this agreement. We know when this is supposed to happen. It's already happening in England, it's already happening in Canada. We need to do something.
Here's a couple of videos made by a YouTube partner named AtheneWins. Check these videos out. They have lots of info, and can help you understand more about what this whole issue is.
Here is the first video, and it explains what is the plans of big ISPs.
